An Excellent Christmas Lunch and New Year's Eve Celebrations.
A very tasty Christmas Lunch was served by our Head Chef, Debbie and her team for the 80+ guests who attended the event on Sunday afternoon. We were also treated to some lovely background music throughout the meal from Dawn Iverson who performed for just the donations from those who attended. With what looked like some generous gestures, we hope we made it worth her while.
This was followed by a suitably festive New Year's eve celebration event. After a glass of bubbly to begin, Debbie served us a lovely 4 course meal and then it was down the the serious business of dancing the night away and celebrating 12.00pm and 2019 with another glass of fizz! Headaches the next morning, but who cared?
Everyone enjoying their Christmas Lunch
Celtic Night - A Great Success
A hugely enjoyable evening was had by all those who attended our Celtic Night in early March. Guests were piped in to The Biddenham Suite by a genuine Scottish Piper and during the meal, entertained by Geraint's Welsh 'songsters'.
Following the Celtic themed meal, 'Life of Riley' got the whole room off their chairs as they played and sung some classic Irish songs. All agreed that it was a really fun event...I'm sure they'll all be back in 2019.
New Year's Eve Celebration Event at BGC
Our New Year's Eve event to celebrate the arrival of 2018 was a great success, with nearly 100 revellers enjoying an evening of good food and great company.
After a welcome glass of bubbly, Chef provided us with a lovely four-course meal, accompanied by fine wines.
Once the meal was complete, the lighting was dimmed and the music commenced as the party danced its way into the early hours.
As Master of Ceremonies, our Captain, John Simpson ensured we celebrated the arrival of the New Year on time with an official count-down and yet another glass of fizz - announced!
I'm sure there were a few sore heads the next morning, but it was a very enjoyable evening.
Our thanks go to all the staff who looked after us so well throughout the event.
Enjoying a celebratory dinner.
The 'Top Table' party in happy mood
Exhibitionists on the dance-floor!
Dancing the night away.
Soul Night - so good and so much fun, we've re-booked Soul Man for 2018!
Those participating in the Soul Man event during Festival Weekend were rewarded with a fantastic evening’s entertainment. We were able to create an informal pub/club atmosphere in the Biddenham Suite with occasional tables, enabling people to easily circulate and mix, but most importantly provide a large area for virtually non-stop dancing. 'Soul Man' sang everyone’s favourite soul songs from the 60's 70's and 80's which got everyone dancing and singing along. He received a particularly enthusiastic reception from our energetic lady members!
The great value evening also included a first class BBQ provided by our chef and his assistants set up in the court yard behind the Biddenham Suite. Our thanks to them, Ruth Coppock and her staff for setting up the room and providing some great service during the evening and event organiser, Peter Wilson.
With Soul Man’s incredible range of songs it is no surprise he is in such great demand and therefore we have already booked him for Festival Weekend next year - July 14th 2018 - so we suggest so as not to miss out - make a point of putting it in your diary early!
